The Council for Dependency Problems has always provided support and information directly, in face-to-face contact with its clients, and a range of information leaflets. CDP now provides information to its clients through this web site.
We have organised this information under two headings. First, there is CDP’s own On-line Information, which you can access by clicking on Support & Information on the green Navigation Bar, above. Then, there is the vast amount of material available from other specialist web sites. You can access that here, by reading the information on this page and by using the menu on the left.
There are a vast number of sources of information about the abuse of drugs, alcohol and other substances. Some are strategic, giving government policy, for example, while others focus on a single issue. Some are encyclopaedias of information about every kind of substance and their effects; yet others deal with just one drug. There are sources aimed at adults and others for children and young people. There are national organisations and those in just one location. There are statutory, voluntary and self-help groups.
Locating and identifying the right web site to meet your requirements is a daunting task. CDP have made this task a lot easier.
We have organised links to scores of web sites that could be of use to our clients and the people that care about them, and to other professionals. We have grouped them into seven sections to help you narrow your search and there is short summary of each site to assist you further.
Before using these Links, we advise you to read the important information given in our Legal section. Clicking on this Links to Other Sites will open a new window.
CDP wants to make this a major source of information for those working or studying in the field of dependency. Please feel free to add this page to your Favourites and pass on the link to your colleagues.
If you would like to see your own or other relevant sites listed here, then please e-mail our Webmaster by clicking on this link.
Similarly, if any links fail or you feel that they are no longer appropriate, then we would also like to hear from you by clicking on this e-mail link.
The Links have been grouped into separate sections only to make it easier to find the information that you are seeking. However, some of the sites have information on a very wide range of subjects and there is significant overlap between sections. Where it will help searching, on larger sites, Links to specific pages may be given, and some Links may be duplicated.
